Yesterday we announced that we will be hosting Beatups — an opportunity for people to meet Hawaii’s key players, other members and the Civil Beat staff.

It’s time to make these Beatups a reality and we want the first Beatup to be focused on…you. It’s been two weeks since we launched and want to hear from you, our members, about your Civil Beat experience. Join us in our Kaimuki office to tell us what’s going well, what’s not going so well, and how we can improve. You’ll be working with us to shape the future of Honolulu Civil Beat. How many times will you have the opportunity to be a part of the inaugural Beatup (which we’ll commemorate with a group picture!)? Yup, just once.

The sooner we can hold this Beatup the faster we can get your input and improve your experience. We’re a startup so we move quickly — we would like to hold it this Thursday, May 20th at 5:30 pm. We know that’s short notice, so if that doesn’t work we’ll hold it next week.

We hope you’ll consider joining us at the first Beatup. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, this first Beatup will be free for our full members. Please post a comment below if you’re interested in attending and we’ll provide more details soon.

What it means to support Civil Beat.

Supporting Civil Beat means you’re investing in a newsroom that can devote months to investigate corruption. It means we can cover vulnerable, overlooked communities because those stories matter. And, it means we serve you. And only you.

Donate today and help sustain the kind of journalism Hawaiʻi cannot afford to lose.
