The “birther” issue just won’t go away. The latest development is brought to us by an Army doctor who said he had “no choice” but to disobey orders to deploy to Afghanistan because he doesn’t believe President Obama is a citizen. Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin pleaded guilty Tuesday to one charge related to his decision not to report to duty in Fort Campbell, Ky. The flight surgeon now faces court martial. There have been so many requests for the president’s birth certificate that the Hawaii Legislature passed a law this year that means the state Department of Health doesn’t have to respond to people who request the certificate more than once.
