Sen. John McCain served for years in the Navy, but apparently he doesn’t like all boats. McCain took to Twitter and mocked a $300,000 grant for the Polynesian Voyaging Society in Hawaii as the No. 1 worst pork barrel project in a $1.1 trillion federal spending bill. The organization builds double-hulled canoes and studies how Pacific Islanders navigated the ocean without modern instruments. McCain might be jealous of President Barack Obama’s Hawaiian vacation, but lashing out at Polynesian culture? Auwe!
