The bat took a long ride from Korea before it was discovered in Honolulu. It hibernated in a refrigerated container under a pallet of radishes and turnips. The creature with a 7-inch wingspan was still alive when it landed. Bats have been found before, but they’re usually dead. Tests showed it was free of rabies. Hawaii is the only state without rabies.
