Former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann landed on his feet at the Hawaii Hotel and Lodging Association and has put politics in his rear-view mirror — for now. Asked by Vicki Viotti if he’s planning to run for Senate in 2012, Hannemann said he won’t mount a challenge as long as Sen. Daniel Akaka is in office, “period.” But Hannemann couldn’t resist griping about his loss in the 2010 Democratic Primary, saying now-Gov. Neil Abercrombie had the advantage of amicable relationships with David Shapiro, Richard Borreca and Dan Boylan that impacted coverage of Hannemann’s infamous Compare-and-Decide flyer.
