Pres. Barack Obama has tapped fellow Punahouan and AOL Inc. co-founder Steve Case to lead the White House’s Startup America Partnership. The venture is part of the administration’s effort to promote entrepreneurship and innovation across the country. Born in Hawaii, Case resigned as chairman of AOL Time Warner Inc. in 2003, two years after he oversaw AOL’s $124 billion purchase of Time Warner Inc. He’s the son of an attorney and elementary school teacher and cousin to former Hawaii Congressman Ed Case. As the administration’s startup czar, Steve Case’s job will be to increase private-sector investments in startup companies and small businesses.
