In his speech, Obama asked people to “let your member of Congress know” how they feel about the increasingly tense debt-ceiling debate in Washington.
The Washington Post reports that U.S. House telephone circuits were at capacity Tuesday morning, with many callers getting busy signals.
It’s not even 6 a.m. in Hawaii, but Congresswoman Mazie Hirono‘s office is already noticing an uptick in messages from constituents.
“We have seen an increase of calls, emails and faxes since the President’s speech last night,” Susan Michels wrote in an email to DC808. “Many of the callers agree with the President’s call that we need a balanced approach where the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes and also agree that the debt ceiling needs to be raised.”
Did you telephone Hirono, Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, Sen. Daniel Inouye or Sen. Daniel Akaka?
