According to a new USA Today/Gallup poll, less than one in four Americans want to see Congress members re-elected in 2012.

The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza says historic congressional unpopularity may mean that incumbents on both sides of the aisle should worry about their viability in 2012.

“Those numbers suggest that 2012 — at least as of today — may be the rarest of elections: a pox on both parties,” Cillizza wrote.

The poll also shows that Hawaii is holding steadfast in its support for President Barack Obama. The president earned a 56 percent approval rating in the Islands, according to the poll. Hawaii was one of 16 states and the District of Columbia with an approval rating above 50 percent for Obama.
