“I am proud to have Charles’ support,” Romney said in a statement on his website. “He has been an advocate for lower taxes, getting spending under control, and creating the right environment for job creation. In addition to his legislative service, Charles serves his country and I am honored to have his support.”
Djou — @Djou4Hawaii — posted to Twitter about the endorsement:
“I endorsed Romney for Pres. today. He has the right experience as a manager, Olympics dir. and gov. to turn around our nation.”
Politico points out that given the uphill battle Republican Djou faces — he’s trying to unseat a Democratic incumbent in a very blue state — aligning himself with Romney could “make all the difference.”
