Honolulu’s East-West Center faced criticism in Congress last month when a House committee voted to terminate funding for the facility.
The center announced this week that it is getting a boost in the form of a $1.1 million grant from the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan. The money will help cover three years of costs in a journalist exchange program with Pakistan.
