Quake Cracked Washington Monument

Tuesday’s earthquake only lasted seconds, but officials are surveying a surprising amount of damage in its aftermath. 

Public schools and some federal agencies are closed, as well as the Washington Monument. Engineers said the obelisk cracked “at the very, very top” in Tuesday’s quake, according to The Washington Post.
