As strong a candidate as he may be, Sen. Daniel Inouye said he preemptively turned down an appointment to the so-called Super Committee tasked with cutting $1.5 trillion in federal spending by Thanksgiving.
As Civil Beat’s Chad Blair reported, Inouye said he already told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid not to pick him. Given his role as Appropriations Committee chairman, Inouye said that super committee responsibilities would be too much.
