Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was surrounded by happy colleagues, who gave Giffords a long standing ovation on the House floor Monday evening.

The Arizona Democrat made a surprise return to the Capitol after months of recovery since she was shot in January. She smiled and appeared to move easily as she greeted fellow members of Congress.
