Hawaii’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 6.2 percent in August, up from 6.1 percent in July, according to new data from the Hawai‘i State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations. Nationally, unemployment held steady at 9.1 percent in July and August.
While the numbers are a troubling indicator that economic recovery may be faltering, the state and national jobless rates are still lower than they were one year ago.
In August 2010, national unemployment was at 9.6 percent, while Hawaii unemployment was at 6.6 percent.
