Here’s one of the statistics that stayed with us from Chad Blair‘s information-rich story about Hawaii’s criminal justice system this morning: Hawaii’s jail population has increased 48 percent since 2006.
In contrast, the US Department of Justice reports that the nation’s average jail population dropped 0.9 percent between 2006 and 2010, the year for which the most recent data is available.
