Key States for Obama in 2012

The New York Times has a great interactive map that looks at which states will be critical for President Barack Obama‘s victory in 2012. 

Virginia and Colorado will join key states like Ohio, Florida and Indiana, the newspaper finds. Check out the interactive feature — and notice Hawaii’s positioning leading the states that backed Obama in 2008. There was huge support for Obama in the Islands, where the president picked up four electoral votes.

Hawaii’s closest Republican counterpart may be Idaho, which also has four electoral votes, but was solidly for Obama opponent John McCain in 2008.
