On this labor day, the State Department‘s international labor affairs specialist reflected on the intersection between labor rights, human rights and the economy.

“An economic crisis in one country can be felt on factory floors half a world away,” wrote Barbara Shailor in a blog post.

Shailor wrote that promoting labor diplomacy requires the State Department to try to make sure that “the global economy is working for everyone.”
