The Washington Post reports that a near-empty chamber approved the extension by voice vote. Most House members are away from Capitol Hill for a weeklong recess. Hawaii’s House Reps. Colleen Hanabusa and Mazie Hirono are in the Islands this week.
The extension means that House members have until early next week to develop a plan to keep government running until Nov. 18. The Senate passed a plan to avert a government shutdown earlier this week.
