Senate Hearing for Defense Deputy

The Senate Armed Services Committee is set to take up the nomination of Ashton Carter as the deputy secretary of the Department of Defense this morning. 

Sen. Daniel Akaka is a member of the committee, and met with Carter last week. Carter now serves as a defense undersecretary, specializing in acquisition, technology and logistics. Read his complete bio.
