White House Creates Site For Petitions

White House officials are announcing the launch of a new website for accepting petitions online. The promise: Get at least 5,000 signatures on your petition and the White House guarantees an official response. 

President Barack Obama said in a statement that the site — nicknamed “We the People” — is a way to make government more open by “giving Americans a direct line to the White House on the issues and concerns that matter most to them.” 

The site will launch “soon,” according to the White House. Click here to sign up for notification about when it does.
