With President Barack Obama‘s $447 billion jobs plan heading for likely defeat in the Senate on Tuesday, Democrats are trying to find ways to pass the bill piecemeal. 

Lawmakers are drafting bills that capture parts of the larger legislation, according to Politico. Despite the president’s nationwide urging to “pass this bill,” it has long appeared doomed in a fiercely divided Congress.
