Japanese American World War II veterans from Hawaii are in Washington this week for a Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony at the U.S. Capitol. 

Sen. Daniel Akaka, a World War II veteran himself, posted this welcoming note to his Twitter account on Monday: 

The photos — including the one, above, in which Rep. Colleen Hanabusa welcomes veterans at the airport — were posted to Akaka’s Facebook page.
