The news organizations found that 55 percent of Americans expect the GOP to win the presidency next year. Thirty-seven percent of those polled predicted Obama would win in his bid for re-election.
Key Democratic leaders have warned that winning 2012 elections will be a significant challenge for the party. In April, Sen. Daniel Inouye told Civil Beat that Republicans have the edge when it comes to getting a message out to voters.
“It’s not going to be easy for Democrats. You know, Democrats think that the message is so obvious that the voters of the United States will do the right thing…” Inouye said. “(The Republicans) have, I won’t say a real edge, but maybe a slight edge on messages.
“If you’re an average voter, and I’m a Republican, and I come out and say, ‘No more taxes for you. You’ve paid enough.’ I don’t care whether you’re middle income or this, you’re going to say, ‘Hey that’s good. I’m paying enough.’… The big challenge at this point will be how do we convey our message, and you can’t do it in two hours. It has to be done in 60 seconds.”
