Occupy Honolulu protesters took their anti-APEC message to the Hawaii Convention Center Sunday night.

Meanwhile, almost 20 protesters camped out for a second night on the sidewalk at Thomas Square Park, at the corner of Beretania Street and Ward Avenue. There were no arrests Sunday night. Eight protesters were arrested Saturday night at the same location, but they were on the grass of the park, which closes at 10 p.m.

The chalking of the sidewalk outside the convention center began about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. About 10 protesters wrote “APEC SUCKS,” “No Sweatshops” and other messages on the sidewalk.

Security inside the convention center witnessed the scene and tried to stop the writing. But the activists responded, “It’s the public sidewalk. We can do it.”

Two police officers arrived and took notes. A cleaning crew started to clean up the chalk even while the protesters were busy writing.
