Sen. Daniel Akaka said he’s confidence that the Supreme Court will uphold the legal framework of the Obama administration’s landmark health care law.
His comments, provided to DC808 via a spokesman, came after the Supreme Court said it would hear a high-profile challenge to the law.
“The Affordable Care Act is already helping Hawaii residents by reducing health care costs, providing effective preventive services like mammograms without copays or deductibles, and making it illegal for insurance companies to deny care to children due to a pre-existing condition.
“The Act lifted lifetime limits on coverage, raised the age that young adults can stay on their parents’ plan to 26, and made prescription drugs accessible to those who need it the most.
“Millions of Americans across the country will benefit when the Supreme Court reaffirms this landmark reform.”
