Hirono’s Balanced Spending Approach
After the super committee failed in its task to develop long-term federal spending reductions, we wanted to know how Hawaii’s congressional delegation would have handled the task.
Rep. Mazie Hirono offered the most thorough response, and described five steps she would take to save $2.87 trillion over a 10-year period. Like many Democrats, Hirono believes that federal savings must entail both cuts and tax increases.
