In the face of “unprecedented obstacles,” Sen. Daniel Inouye praised the Senate for sending a package of three spending bills to President Barack Obama‘s desk on Thursday night.

“We now consider legislation that reflects the good-faith efforts and input of Members of both sides of the aisle of both the House and the Senate,” Inouye said prior to the vote, according to a transcript of his remarks. “Given the current fiscal and political realities, this is no small accomplishment.”

The spending package includes an amendment that will keep the government running through Dec. 16.
