In an interview with Civil Beat this week, Rep. Colleen Hanabusa was frank in her description of the United States’ relationship with Pakistan.

“Pakistan’s number one ally is China,” Hanabusa said. “It’s not us, it’s never going to be us, and so we have got to just stop right then and there.” (Read the full story.)

The Atlantic magazine appears to agree with Hanabusa, and published an article entitled “The Ally From Hell” about U.S. relations with Pakistan in its December 2011 issue.

The article was co-reported, via dozens of interviews over a six-month period, by The Atlantic and National Journal, and gives a closer look at “an unstable and violent country located at the epicenter of global jihadism.”
