As the White House continues to push Congress to pass elements of the president’s American Jobs Act, the Obama administration is highlighting aspects of that plan.
One major component: Infrastructure investment. A statement issued by the White House on Thursday argued that the U.S. is “falling behind” on investing in roads, airports, bridges and transit systems.
According to the White House, China spends 9 percent of its GDP on infrastructure; Europe spends 5 percent of its GDP on infrastructure; and the U.S. spends 2 percent of its GDP on infrastructure.
