The Big Island police department is offering a $30,000 reward for information about an attack on papayas, according to KITV.
Under the cover of night, thousands of papaya trees were felled on the island in July, likely with machetes.
The attack is believed to be linked to anger over genetically modified foods. In the 1990s, scientists altered the DNA of papayas to protect them from a deadly virus.
