Waiting in the Civil Beat mailbox today was a 10-page-plus letter from Roger Christie, the Hilo pot minister awaiting trial on federal charges.
“Hello Chad,” the letter begins. “Aloha to you. Yes, of course I remember you. It’s good to hear from you again.”
The letter includes Christie’s detailed response to our Q&A about his detention (stay tuned for Civil Beat’s forthcoming article), an illustration (sorta looks like a Christmas tree — some sort of tree, anyway) and a brochure for his Hawaii Cannabis Ministry.
Christie also sent a poem. Excerpt:
Religious Freedom’s our defense, I thought that it would fly;
the only way the feds can win is keeping-up the lie.
Letter from Roger Christie to Civil Beat, Dec. 12, 2011.
