A monk seal pup was found dead on Molokai Wednesday, according to Guy Kaulukukui, deputy director of Hawaii’s Department of Land and Natural Resources. 

The death comes on the heels of an announcement last week by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that it was investigating the deaths of two other monk seals believed to have died under suspicious circumstances. 

Jeff Walters, a NOAA official, said that a necropsy would have to be completed before any additional information was available.
