Tom Berg has his venue, but he might be left wanting with the composition of his panel and the size of his crowd.

As of quarter after 6, there are perhaps three dozen citizens here at the Mission Memorial Auditorium, leaving many rows empty. Berg’s playing the role he was born to play: emcee, with Sam Slom, Panos Prevedouros and others on the stage behind him.

“What, is X Factor on tonight, or American Idol?” Berg joked about the small turnout.

Ann Kobayashi is the only other member of the Honolulu City Council in the room as of this moment, but the meeting goes until 8:30 p.m., so there’s still time.
