Hawaii County has contracted a company to review its property tax structure, the Hawaii Tribune Herald reported.

The county’s operating budget is typically around $400 million, with about half coming from property tax revenue.

Kohala Councilman Pete Hoffman pushed for the review, telling the paper: ”The result of the study would be to relieve the onset of complaints and moans and groans from people who say they’re being taxed more than their neighbor.”

The county expects a report in March.
