Just now delving into it, but even page 1 is pretty damning. The Charter School Review Panel, for example, “has misinterpreted state law and minimized its role in the system’s accountability structure.”
The report also states that the panel has placed undue emphasis on its role as authorizer and delegated monitoring and accountability to the local school boards, akin to having the mouse watch the cheese.
I’m sure there will be some interesting comparisons to be made with the findings of the charter school governance task force, which just wrapped up its recommendations.
Senate Education Chairwoman Jill Tokuda says she will hold an informational briefing on the audit at the Capitol Monday.
