First Lady and daughters leave for Oahu Friday

The Obamas are coming! No word yet on where they’re staying, but the owner of the Kailua mansion where the first family has spent the last three winters told Civil Beat the president isn’t returning to his house this year. 

(A Civil Beat investigation earlier this year found that the Obamas’ two-week rental of the three-bedroom, five-and-a-half bath home in 2010 was illegal under a longstanding Honolulu ban on short-term rentals.)

The First Lady and her daughters are expected to touch down on Friday. Just in time throw an extra wrinkle into Christmas shopping traffic.
