The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation‘s crash course in all things rail is ongoing. Today, it learned about the city’s deal with the Hawaii Department of Transportation setting the details for how the rail project can use highway right-of-ways.

The so-called “Master Agreement” is more than 50 pages long and covers things like construction, traffic management, public outreach and joint use of the state’s property. It was effective in October 2010.

HART members are now getting an update on the programmatic agreement that allowed a segmented approach to archaeological surveying efforts.

It’s a reminder that while the planning for the project has been going on for decades, HART has only existed since July 1.
