The upcoming deadline means that U.S. House and Senate hopefuls have just days left to bump up their quarterly fundraising numbers. Rep. Mazie Hirono, a Democrat, told supporters on Tuesday that she aims to take in $25,000 before time runs out.
Her Democratic rival, former Congressman Ed Case, emailed supporters to ask for anywhere between $10 and $5,000 to help “get the strongest possible start on the ‘real’ campaign” in 2012.
Former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, who is running in Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District race, asked supporters to consider donating to his campaign before the end of the filing period, but didn’t specify how much he wants.
“Please keep in mind that in just seven short months, voters will be able to start casting their ballots in the primary election,” Hannemann wrote.
