Hawaiian Electric has been running a series of ads warning residents about rising electricity bills.

Costs have gone up a staggering 50 percent this past year for Hawaii residents who have long been paying the highest electricity rates in the country.

HECO has also posted interviews with its executive vice president, Robbie Alm, on its website. He answers questions about what’s driving up electric bills and says that renewable energy sources can help:
