The center finds that Hirono co-sponsored 67 earmarks totaling nearly $150 million in 2010. Former North Dakota Democrat Earl Pomeroy ranked second with $148 million in earmarks, followed by Florida Republican Bill Young with $129 million in earmarks.
Some of the priciest projects on Hirono’s list: Funding for the Honolulu rail project, money for a national civic education program and funds for a Hawaii sustainable energy program.
