Word just came down from Council Chambers: The Hawaii State Association of Counties legislative package has passed with a set of amendments recommended by Stanley Chang.

Tom Berg, who had floated a separate set of changes that would have caused some heartache for HSAC because of the way the organization draws up its package, cast the lone vote in opposition.

The final approved version of the package did not include the proposed state law that would require labels on all foods containing genetically-modified organisms.

Hawaii’s three other counties had included that bill in their versions of the resolution, but Honolulu’s decision to remove it in committee means it didn’t survive.
