Jeanne Sumida of the Department of Planning and Permitting tells Inside Honolulu that a motion to dimiss the request failed by a 5-0 vote.
The motion had been filed by the Ko Olina Community Association and Sen. Maile Shimabukuro, who want the landfill to stop accepting trash as currently required by its permit on July 31, 2012.
The contested case hearing will proceed. It’s scheduled for 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the Mission Memorial building next to Honolulu Hale.
