Bob Marx, a Democratic candidate for Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District, this week announced that he “staunchly opposes” sections of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.
That’s because the sections allow for U.S. citizens suspected of participation in or ties to terrorist activities to be imprisoned indefinitely by the U.S. Armed Forces. As Civil Beat reported, Hawaii’s U.S. senators split their vote over the bill.
Quote from Marx:
This clearly violates the right to Due Process under the 14th Amendment, especially since it does not expressly apply to suspects or detainees of war.
