One month after protesters on boats and surfboards blocked a cruise ship from docking at Molokai’s Kaunakakai Harbor, “The Friendly Isle” will open its arms again.
American Safari Cruises announced Tuesday that they had reached agreement with state and federal authorities and local groups so that the 36-passenger Safari Explorer can return to Molokai next month.
Protesters earlier said they were excluded from the decision-making process and didn’t want their island to turn into another Waikiki. The cruise line and residents held several community meetings to try to hammer out the issues. Read more on the story at KITV.
