Here’s an innovative idea:

A 38,000 square-foot garden is being planted on the roof of Auto Mart USA in Kakaako.

From a press release:

The rooftop farm will supply community, retailers and chefs with an assortment of delicious, healthy, and nutrient-dense crops such as heirloom kale, arugula and mustard greens. The farm will grow in a proprietary ultra-lightweight soil infused with minerals, trace elements, nutrients, and billions of microorganisms.

The garden is being installed by FarmRoof and Kamehameha Schools
