About a dozen tents are lined up along the Beretania Street sidewalk across from the Honolulu Academy of Arts on the day after the city enforced park closure laws at the encampment, arresting two protesters.

Bookshelves, small refrigerator, some chairs, and other items were back for the day on the concrete space where the canopies used to be. Protesters said they will move the items to the sidewalk after Thomas Square Park closes at 10 p.m.

Some pedestrians donated money and drivers honked to support the protesters.

Protesters called a meeting tonight to discuss further plans and how they’ll fight the new ordinance banning keeping personal possessions on sidewalks or in parks for more than 24 hours. They believe the city will eventually use the law to eliminate the camp.
