After a fierce standoff, Congress on Friday morning approved a plan to extend the payroll tax cut through February.
The move means that 160 million American workers will not see their paychecks shrink come Jan. 1. As part of the two-month deal, unemployment benefits are also extended.
The approval is a victory for President Barack Obama, who fought hard for the measure to pass. Republicans rejected the deal earlier this week before ultimately caving.
