Sen. Daniel Akaka‘s office says the senator is participating in a Senate secret santa gift exchange this month.
The New York Times reports that Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., came up with the idea as a lighthearted way to bridge the partisan gap in Congress. Nebraska Republican Sen. Mike Johanns partnered with Franken to organize the exchange.
Senators are to spend no more than $10 on gifts. More than half of the chamber is involved in the exchange — though no word yet if Sen. Daniel Inouye is taking part.
