The University of Hawaii said it’s received 30 applications as of Monday evening to fill its head football coach vacancy.
The Warriors’ most recent coach, Greg McMackin, had been the highest paid state government employee with a $1.1 million base salary.
The public university announced McMackin’s retirement exactly one week ago, following a 6-7 losing season. He had one season remaining on his five-year contract [pdf], and accepted a $600,000 buyout.
A six-member search committee will begin reviewing the applications Monday evening, UH said.
