A three month project to restore sand to approximately 1,730 feet of shoreline in the Waikiki area is set to begin early next year.
The area will span the west end of Kuhio Beach to the Royal Hawaiian, and between the Royal Hawaiian and Sheraton Waikiki.
The restoration is expected to result in beach closures — the Department of Land and Natural Resources says a timeline is forthcoming.
